It's Never Just a Massage

One of the things I love most about this work is that every visit is different. People often see me as "just" a massage therapist. Well... yes, I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist, and after more than 10 years, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. But over the years, my work has grown into so much more. I've continued to study, explore, and specialize in approaches that help people reconnect with both their body and mind.

What happens in my treatment room goes far beyond muscles. I'm paying attention to your nervous system, noticing how your body protects itself, where you're holding tension, and what it might be trying to communicate. Every body tells a story, you just have to know how to listen.

Recently, a guest came in barely able to move her neck. We'd been doing Craniosacral Therapy, but something told me that massage was what her body needed that day. We slowed everything down, focused on releasing some stubborn muscles around her shoulder blade, and by the end of the visit she was smiling because she could turn her head again.

That's why I don't believe in cookie-cutter care. We're all unique, and treatment plans should reflect that. Sometimes your body needs stillness. Sometimes it needs focused, intentional manual therapy. And sometimes it simply needs someone to meet it exactly where it is without trying to force change. That's the real art of what I do.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that pain isn't always about damaged tissue. Many times, it's a nervous system that's been protecting you for far too long. When your body finally feels safe, it often begins to let go of patterns it's been holding onto for months… or even years.

That's why I love working with people who are curious. The ones asking questions, doing their own inner work, and wanting to understand themselves a little better. The body and mind aren't separate - they're constantly communicating, always searching for balance.

Healing isn't about becoming someone different. It's about coming back to yourself.

Maybe that's why I resonate so strongly with the Wizard archetype. A wizard doesn't force magic to happen; he creates the conditions where transformation becomes possible. That's exactly how I see my work.

Whether we're using therapeutic massage, Craniosacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, or coaching through The Cortina Method, my goal is always the same: to help you feel more human, more connected, and more at home in your own body and mind.

Because sometimes the greatest magic isn't found in doing more.

It's found in finally allowing yourself to let go and experience flow.
