Imagine that you finally sit down at the end of the day...
The house is quiet and your list of “to-dos” have been completed. (For now, right?)
Yet, you realize your body still feels rigid and tense. Your mind keeps churning. Neck tension sets in and your shoulders won’t drop. You want to relax but you notice you aren’t able… Why the heck not?!
This isn’t because you are doing something wrong… Simply put, your body has learned how to stay “activated” even when you know you are safe to relax and let go. Taking that “me” time to another level seems impossible when this has happened…

Survival Mode - Yep, you have heard of it before. Because our ancestors were adapted to be chasing buffalo and being outright pilgrims. We have biologically developed this awesome trait where we need to be on high alert. While it chilled out in the simpler times of life, it has ramped back up again in our wild society of systems and structure. Yay, societal pressures.
It shows up in day to day stuff because we are constantly on the go-go-go and taking care of other people more than we respect ourselves and just look after our own needs. The idea, concept, and practice of people pleasing is at an all time high. Holding everything together and stuffing down feelings, emotions, and even not speaking up causes tension. Everywhere.
Over time, your nervous system just gets used to being this way. The hype is real and it takes a toll.
So even when you are trying to chill and relax, nope. Your body is still scanning for something to do or keep your attention. Even when your body and mind feel safe, you are still guarding!
